Committees>
As a primarily volunteer organization, the committees serve a critical role in
the NIDO organization. NIDO relies on its committees to develop and implement
organization initiatives and activities, and provide support to the Executive
Director. Each committee is chaired by a board member, and committee participation
is open to all NIDO members. The committees report directly to the Board of Directors. Committees are established on an ongoing and sometimes
temporary basis depending on the key needs and policies of the organization.
Formation of Committees:
At a board meeting on July 19, 2007 the following committees were formed and approved by the board with immediate effect; the chairpersons of each committee was requested to populate their committees with suitably qualified members, while ensuring the aligning of individual skills and talents in a best-fit manner:
a. Database Development Committee:
The chairperson of this committee will be Dr. Victor Ozieh, with the task of deploying a functional and incremental information systems database accessible from the NIDO website. The committee may be populated as needed with an additional four (4) members coming from across the NIDO membership. b. 501c Committee:
Mr. Kunle Fagbenle, Esq. Chairperson and Mr. Uzoma Obi will constitute this committee tasked to go all out to acquire the tax-exempt status for the organization and report progress to the board at regular intervals. c. Fund-raising Committee:
Prof. Joseph Igietseme, Chairperson, Mrs. Molly Uzoh and Mr. Jimi Lawal; the committee is tasked with creating a database list of donors and a solicitation template etc. Committee to report progress to the board at regular intervals. d. Media Strategy Committee:
Ms Chioma Ikejiani, Chairperson and Dr Joseph Igietseme. The committee is tasked with handling strategic communication and various Press functions on behalf of the organization and report same to the board at regular intervals. e. Conference Committee:
Mr. Jimi Lawal, Chairperson and Co-Chair Prof. Dennis Balogu. The committee is charged with the organization of a conference by the October 2007 time-frame: Theme: “Financing Businesses and Projects in Nigeria” and to report regular updates to the board. f. NIDO Annual Nollywood Awards:
Chioma Ikejiani, Chairperson, Molly Uzoh and Brian Udejiofor. This committee is charged with examining the feasibility of having such an event in the Spring of 2008 time-frame.
