NIDO chapters serve as the local and regional organizing vehicles
for the central organization and its members. NIDO has a number of official
and
emerging chapters in the Americas and the Caribbean, which serve as the
face and voice of the organization in the community. These chapters are
active in the community. The following are highlights from two areas:
Atlanta Area: In Summer 2004, the NIDO Atlanta chapter held
a successful workshop for Nigerians in the area on how to start and grow
their businesses. The workshop, aimed at empowering Nigerians in America
with enterprise tools, focused on issues such as business planning, financing
and venture capital, and business law. The workshop was also an opportunity
for Nigerian-owned businesses in the area to network, pitch their products
and services, and create partnerships.
Minnesota: In 2004, a sizeable group of Nigerian professionals
in Minneapolis took advantage of an informative seminar on Retirement
Planning, hosted and facilitated by NIDO Minnesota in collaboration
with financial planning professionals from the local area.
