WELCOME MESSAGE
Welcome to the Toronto Chapter of NIDO Americas. The Toronto Chapter was inaugurated
in Toronto on Sunday August 8, 2004 when a Caretaker Committee (CTC) was elected.
The terms of reference for the CTC was to organize Nigerians living in the Greater
Toronto Area and its suburbs for induction into the Nigerians In Diaspora Organization
(NIDO). It was not an easy task, however, by February 2005 the CTC met the Charter
requirements for induction into NIDO Americas.
The Charter for the Toronto Chapter
of NIDO Americas was granted by the Board of Directors at the Annual General
Meeting of NIDO Americas
in Washington D.C., USA on Saturday April 2, 2005.The Toronto Chapter
of NIDO Americas was established as a rallying point of Nigerian Professionals
living in the Greater Toronto Area
and its suburbs who desire to contribute in one way or the other to
the development of Nigeria. We seek to engage in consultations through
meetings, seminars, workshops and other forms of public forum in order
to generate the awareness and information needed for developing Nigeria.
We seek to engage in networking with other Chapters of NIDO across
the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa.
The Toronto Chapter is young but growing as you would observe through
our activities and future plans. It is our hope that you would be part
of the NIDO Network as we look forward to meeting you at our next meeting.
