Subject: NIDO Meeting - Nov. 20 - Group 2 Outline Rpt
Dr. Kassim,
Congratulations once again for the beautiful presentation as regards the need for NIDO to succeed. It will be good source of reference for NIDO publicity. Please forward us a soft copy for our records. Group 2 was charged to deliberate on how to improve the current structure and membership guidelines of NIDO- Americas. The group had about 18 participants and was chaired by Mr. Godson Offoaro @ 202-436-1210. Here is the outline of our recommendations:
a. NIDO to encourage registration of organizations at state and national level rather than individuals, then there will be 2 representatives sent to the boards (Board of Directors and Advisory Board) from the state\national level. This will eliminate the region based board formation, where you have 2 people show up on NIDO election day and become board members. This will also be an added value and will be inclusive at same time bring some level of integrity to the board.
b. Membership at chapter level to be reduced from 50 to 15. Heavily populated states like California, and Texas to accommodate 2 chapters instead of one.
c. Individuals who do not want to belong to any Nigerian organization can register as member at large which can be combined to become a virtual chapter, though the membership will come with some voting restrictions.
c. A need NIDO office in Abuja
d. NIDO to determine how well to work with your office
e. Affiliation with international professional\business\investment organizations for recognition
f. NIDO to work in collaboration with these organization to facilitate their
projects\programs.
g. NIDO should include a PUBLICITY COMMITTEE at the national board level.
Thank you,
